About The Band
After
years of backing a legion of top local and national performers,
four of Washingtons finest sidemen have come together
to form Swing Speak. In this era of techno pop and hype,
they make music the old fashioned way: with a strong melodic
content and a serious groove. Not content to be typecast,
this revivalist group specializes in everything from American
swing and Latin jazz standards to rhythm & blues and
gospel flavored funk.
Swing Speak has released
a jazz CD that is getting great reviews. It has been awarded
a WAMMIE by the Washington Area Music Association.

Although Swing Speak is
known primarily for it's exciting jazz concert and club performances,
the band's performance schedule also includes a large number
of weddings, private parties and corporate events. The Swing
Speak repertoire includes hundreds of song titles, and song
selection can easily be tailored to suit any occasion. From
big band and jazz standards to the classic rock of the 50s'
and 60s', every important facet of American music is included.
A typical performance may consist of a mix of musical styles
or draw entirely from one category. The band is at home playing
everything from quiet background jazz to upbeat dance music.
Clients may also choose to customize the music for their event
by making selections from the Swing Speak song list, or let
the band make appropriate selections.
Swing Speak is experienced in working with event
planners and caterers to coordinate performance times with
other event activities. The band can provide all necessary
musical equipment for most functions. A cassette player is
also provided for special presentations and background music
during band intermissions. Microphones can be used by the
client for toasts or speeches.
Swing Speak is a four piece unit which includes
piano/vocal, bass, drums and sax, but a guitar or extra horns
may be added for special events to provide an even bigger
sound. The band also frequently performs as a trio (piano/vocal,
bass and drums). The members of Swing Speak are all dedicated,
full time professional musicians of the highest calibre, and
all have backed some of the biggest names in the entertainment
industry. The band has established a solid reputation for
quality and professionalism. Past clients include The TRW
Corporation, UPS, Genetics and IVF and a host of other clients
and companies. Letters of recommendation are gladly provided
upon request. Let Swing Speak help to make your event a big
success.
