Bethesda Summer Concerts

For the umpteenth year in a row Music Unlimited has teamed up with Bethesda Urban Partnership to bring you the best bands in the DC area. The featured bands cover the gamut from pop and rock to jazz and classical to Reggae.

Lunchtime concerts are every Wednesday May through July 12 - 2 PM at Bethesda Place Plaza and evening concerts happen every Thursday 6 - 8 PM.

And don't forget the Bethesda Fine Arts Festival on Saturday 5/10 and Sunday 5/11.

Bazen Produces Brown, Release Party 5/7/08

Over the spring and summer of 2007 James Bazen had the great pleasure of producing Larry Brown's latest CD. It was doubly gratifying because Larry has been a long time member of the James Bazen Big Band and his jazz is dear to Bazen's heart.

It features drummer Greg Holloway, bassist Kent Miller and special guests drummer Leland Nakamoura and JBBB trombonist Jerry O'Sullivan. We are having the CD release party on Wednesday 5/7/08 at Blues Alley. Shows are at 8 and 10 PM.

JamesBazen.net Redesigned

JamesBazen.net has always been a good place to find out about public performances and check out recordings. But over the past year I have been doing a lot more producing, engineering and writing so it was time for a change. Here are some highlights:

The Arrangements/Compositions page now includes the complete recordings and sample pdf files of the scores.

The Producing/Engineering page is new. There you will find a few samples of my studio work. You can compare the rough mixes with the final mixes.

The Recordings page has been updated to include sound bites for every tune on the CD's. There are links to the Music Unlimited online store as well as cdbaby and iTunes.

A juke box for your listening pleasure while you browse. You operate it just like your CD player (does anyone have those anymore?) or your iPod: fast forward, rewind, go to the next or previous track. Or, if you get no pleasure listening to the tunes while you browse you can just turn the damn thing off.
